Terms & Conditons
If you haven’t already done so please read our section on Preparation.
Please ensure that all of your goods are fully prepared for transportation including all appliances. We cannot become involved in any disconnection of appliances and items such as refrigerators or freezers must be emptied and thoroughly defrosted and dried prior to collection.
All items for shipment which are not well wrapped need to be of clean condition so that they do not soil other goods on board the vehicle.
If large items need to be dismantled for ease of passage out of the place of collection, this will need to carried out prior to our arrival.
All boxes should be in good and rigid condition as it is likely that other boxes will be placed on top of them.
Any fragile items must very well protected using suitable packaging materials. Our insurance will not cover loss or damage to fragile item/s if they are not properly packed and protected. Similarly if an item is in any way faulty to the point that it is weaker than it normally would be we accept no liability if it becomes damaged as a result of its condition prior to loading. An unusual example of this is a woodworm infested mirror frame. The infestation, even though no longer live, caused considerable weakening and breakdown of the frame internally resulting in damage from only minor movement.
If the fragility of a particular item dictates that we cannot place anything on top of it, and similarly that nothing can be placed under it, we will need to charge for the un-usable space accordingly. This is however rare.
It is our policy not to open boxes or bags or other such sealed items so we cannot check the condition of the contents or indeed which contents are actually enclosed. Therefore we cannot be held responsible for losses or damage incurred through negligence on your part or that of a third party engaged by you. Similarly if customs officials, police or any other authorized personnel in any country wish to search your goods we must allow them to do so but we accept no liability for any losses or damages as a result of such actions. In such cases, if there is a problem, we will ascertain the appropriate point of contact for you.
Shipment departure dates are estimated until nearer the time and they are dictated by those circumstances within our control. Therefore we cannot be held responsible for any loss resulting from a delay to the shipment if this is due to an event outside of our control.
In event of us having to alter a shipment date we will contact you with as much notice as possible to discuss the new arrangement. In this respect, whilst generally there are no serious delays, we would ask that you try to give us as wide a window of time as possible. We would add that all removal companies operating trans-continental routes need to fill a certain minimum level of booked space or reach a certain fee level, on their vehicles in order to depart.
Payment is strictly in advance of departure with a minimum deposit of 30% of the estimated shipment price being payable upon booking. This is a non-refundable deposit if a change is instigated by you or a third party you have involved. If your moving dates need to be altered for any reason, either on your part or ours, the deposit will still be transferable in respect of the new shipment dates provided we have sufficient notice of this change. If the change is instigated by us the deposit is transferable irrespective of the date we learn of the necessity to alter the date. If we must cancel or seriously alter a shipment date and it is too great a change of date then the deposit will be refundable
The price quoted at the time of booking is an estimate only and whist this can be a fairly accurate one, the actual volume and or weight can only be fully gauged upon loading of the goods into the vehicle.
Price is calculated in the first instance per cubic metre based upon the space the shipment is likely to occupy in the vehicle – each cubic metre should have a guide weight limit of 100 kgs Any very heavy items will be charged on a per Kilogram basis. For example an item being only .25 of a cubic metre but weighing 100 Kgs will be charges as though it is one cubic metre etc.
We observe relevant health and safety guidelines in respect of heavy lifting.
Cabinets and wardrobes will generally need to be transported empty unless the contents are very light in weight.
If the volume of your shipment is more than the agreed estimate to such an extent that it cannot be transported on that particular departure because of limited space we reserve the right to return at a later agreed date to collect the excess goods when our normal charges will apply. If it can be transported on that departure date we will charge the excess at the normal rate.
If the actual volume of the shipment is only slightly less than the agreed estimate we will be happy to adjust the price accordingly. Please bear in mind the weight volume / ratio.
If, once the deposit is paid, you then decide to reduce the volume of the shipment or cancel it, the full price will still be payable as we may not be able to replace lost space at short notice. This is because cancellation of a significant shipment size could jeopardize the entire trip.
